White Kitchen Ideas That Will Never Go Out Of Style
We’ve teamed up with Floor & Decor to share five tips to keep in mind when choosing your kitchen backsplash. Floor & Decor is one of my favorite places to find affordable tiles for the kitchen, bathroom, and every other area of the house. They have some really amazing unique options for every budget. Whether you’re looking for tiles under $5/sf or under $10/sf, they have something for everyone! I especially love their marble tiles, and the prices really beat all the other stores!
To calculate how much backsplash you need, take the length of the area to be tiled and multiply it by the height of the area. Complete this calculation for each tile area. Then add each sum and multiply by 1.1. This is to allow for a 10% increase if the tire is broken or the tire is accidentally cut.
It may seem like the only option that feels timeless, but that’s not the case! There are tons of other styles and colors that can be used to pull off a timeless look that you’ll love for years to come!

Truth be told, I struggled with this a lot while designing my own kitchen! I almost chose the floor tiles because I really wanted a timeless look! I really like subway tile, because it’s definitely timeless, but it’s not the only option for your kitchen!
There are endless options for kitchen backsplash such as hexagon tiles, picket tile, penny tile, and square format tile (just to name a few).
Timeless Backsplash Tip: Choose a natural stone like marble or slate for a more timeless look. For example, marble or slate mosaic tile!

If you are remodeling your kitchen, the cost can add up, so it is important to keep your budget in mind. While there are definitely places to clean and places to save, I tend to be more conservative with the tile budget!
WITH so many amazing tile options available at great prices, it doesn’t make sense to dedicate a large portion of the budget to a backsplash.
At Floor & Decor, there are hundreds of amazing backsplash options available at incredible prices. Even marble tiles can be found for under $10/sf! Floor & Decor is definitely one of my go-to places to find great tile at a great price.

Choosing a tile is just one step away! After you’ve chosen the tile you want to use, you’ll need to nail down the layout, grout size of the joint, and grout color.
The design can be very precise to make your space feel special! You can add a border of a different color or shape, mix and match the colors of the same tile, or play with an off-set of tiles.
Once you know how to style, you can choose a grout color that reflects your personality. Do you want the grout to mix in? Match the grout to the tile color. If you want a bold look, you can add a contrasting grout color.

TIP: If you choose a different grout, make sure it will work with the tile you’ve chosen.
Once, I tried to use dark gray grout with light colored cement tile and the grout came out of the tile and ruined it! Natural stone and cement grout can take on a dark grout color, so do a few tests before grouting the entire area.
You can also play with the grout size of the joint to add a different look to your backsplash. The size of the grout joint is usually ⅛”, but can be up to ¼”. Check with your tile professional about the size your tile needs. If there is wiggle room, you can increase or decrease to make your tile feel unique. Personally, I like a very thin grout joint and I always ask my tile layer to use the smallest grout possible.
Kitchen Tile Backsplash Ideas
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve worked with a client and decided on a backsplash in the last hour. With the kitchen backsplash being such an important piece of design, I recommend choosing it early, and designing around it!
This can help you determine the style of cabinet hardware, plumbing, lighting, and cabinet color! A backsplash is one of the most visually heavy elements of a room, so let the backsplash be the star of the show, and allow other design elements to compliment it.
The size of the tile will be one of the determining factors in the overall look of your kitchen. A large scale backsplash will have a modern look, and a small scale will have a traditional feel.
Colorful And Original Kitchen Backsplash Ideas
I tend to gravitate towards small tiles like mosaics because my style is quite traditional. If you want a modern look, try choosing a larger trailer.
What do I mean when I say “large scale”? You can see these two different tiles have the same shape. One is bigger though, which means the scale is bigger.
I also tend to pick a smaller tile because I feel it compliments the natural larger scale of the countertop. I think this combination works well together. I try to do the same by choosing the bathroom tiles (one tile with a large scale and another with a small scale).
Stunning Diy Kitchen Ideas For A Total Makeover
Be sure to consult your tile sealant manufacturer as needed. Some tiles will need to be sealed before and after installation. Some tiles only need to be sealed after installation, and some not at all! I also ask my tilers to use pre-sealed grout to make it last!

Mistakes Everyone Makes When Putting In A Kitchen Backsplash
When designing (or remodeling) a kitchen, you really have three things to play with: your cabinets, your countertops, and your backsplash. More often than not, your cabinets and countertops will get a lot of attention, and this makes sense. After all, they are the largest and most effective in your area. But, since your backsplash is the final piece that brings your space together, it deserves a lot of care and attention, too.
If you have never heard the phrase “kitchen backsplash” before, be sure to know that the concept is not that complicated. A kitchen backsplash is an easy-to-clean area that sits behind your sink and/or your stove to protect your walls from clutter. It can be made from a variety of materials, although it is usually lined with tiles or marble. Just like your taps and cabinets, it can add a dose of statement-making style to your space.
Your backsplash can serve as a pop of color, print, or texture, or it can simply help you integrate other beautiful elements into your space. In short, kitchen backsplash ideas abound—and we’ve rounded up 55 worth adding to your library of interior design inspo below.
Tiny Kitchen Ideas For Max Style
Committing to a backsplash palette can be difficult. So, why not stick to the palette you already have? Look to other statement makers in your space – like your kitchen island – and let them inspire your color choices. To maintain your palette, choose a backsplash color that matches your island perfectly. Or change things up by choosing a slightly different shade.
The easiest way to make a statement with your backsplash? Save on printed tiles. Choose a pattern that matches the aesthetic of your home, and choose a palette as bold as you want it to be. Even a simple peach backsplash can make a statement if it’s the only print in your space.
Choice. Some things may look strange, and since they are least expected, they are bound to make a statement.
Unbelievable Rustic Kitchen Design Ideas To Steal
Think about what you want your backsplash to feel like, and ask yourself if tiles are the best way to get there. If you’re craving something matte, textured, and minimalist, white-painted wood panelling might be a better bet.
When most of us hear the word “grout,” we imagine pasty-white-white
