35 Stylish White Kitchen Pantry Organization Ideas – Keeping your kitchen organized can be a little difficult. Usually, there are so many items that we want to store, but we don’t have much space to store them. Or even if you have the space, it can quickly get out of hand and feel cluttered.

We often spend a considerable amount of time in the kitchen because we need to eat, and that time feels more pleasant when everything is neat and tidy. So I thought I’d compile all of my most favorite kitchen organization ideas in hopes of helping you stay organized.

I’ve been used to kitchens of all shapes and sizes. From a very, very small galley-style kitchen in my first one-bedroom apartment to a much smaller townhouse kitchen…

…My current kitchen is spacious, but each space presents its own challenges when it comes to organization.

The “ideal” kitchen organization will vary depending on your space, daily routine, preferences, and family needs. What worked perfectly for me may not work at all for you (and vice versa), and that’s okay.

But I hope the ideas I share below serve as a spark of inspiration that you can adapt to your own space.

Small Kitchen Design Ideas That Make The Most Of A Tiny Space

Before we get into the core ideas of kitchen organization, there are two strategies I would recommend for every kitchen if possible. (And any space in your home, for that matter!)

There’s no point in just rearranging all sorts of things you’ll never use. Even if it’s hidden in a cute trash can or basket, if the clutter is still there, it will eventually take over and ruin your other organizational efforts.

That’s why I try to get rid of as much stuff as possible before purchasing a bin or deciding on a permanent placement for the item. I usually take three trash bags or cardboard boxes and label them “Trash,” “Donate,” and “Sell.” Then I go through my entire space and put anything I don’t like anymore or don’t use often into the appropriate bags.

While decluttering, look for items that need to be moved. For example, if I’m going through the kitchen cabinets and find action figures that my sons have hidden there, I’ll put them back in the playroom and move them out of the way.

Storing similar items together makes it easier to find what you need when you need it. It also makes it more clear to other family members where things are, so they can return items to their designated locations.

This photo was taken when I was cleaning out my townhouse kitchen and grouping similar items together. Who would have thought that you could store so many things in such a small kitchen?

By taking the time to assemble similar items, you’ll know exactly what you’re working with and how much space you’ll need, so you can make educated decisions about where to put everything.

Kitchen cabinets are some of the most difficult areas to organize in your kitchen. Let’s take a look at some ideas to make the most of your space.

After trying different ways to store pots and pans and their lids, I always seem to come back to nesting the pots and pans with the lids on top. I like

There are other ways to do it, like filing it away or hanging a lid on the back of the door, but in reality (at least for me) this is an example where the simplest solution was the best solution. It also takes up minimal space.

I have some pots that I want to keep from getting scratched so I bought an organizer like this for them. Prevents pots from rubbing against each other while maximizing vertical space.

If I have a choice between “filing” things upright or stacking them flat, I almost always choose filing.

This allows you to see all items at once. Also, you don’t always have to unload and reload to find the items you need. I use an organizer like this to give me a little more support when filing pots and cutting boards.

Most of us have the problem of not having enough cabinet space, so we need to make the most of every available space. I often use riser shelves to add another layer to my cabinets so I can store more items neatly and efficiently.

Sometimes there are a lot of small items that need to be stored together in a cabinet. I like to keep similar items organized in bins rather than cluttering up lots of small items.

Bins are especially useful if they are on high shelves. Instead of having to awkwardly search in the back to find what you need, you can simply pull down the entire bin, grab what you want, and put the bin back.

This is one of my pet peeves, so if you don’t feel as strongly about this issue as I do, feel free to ignore it. 😉 But all your Tupperware and food storage containers should be in matching sets so they fit neatly into each other. (I currently have twice this set.)

Mismatched sets won’t always fit together well and will leave your Tupperware cabinet cluttered. It also becomes difficult to grasp the lid, which can be frustrating. And speaking of the lid…

Again, I try to minimize space as much as possible while keeping everything organized, so putting the Tupperware lid upright in the bin works best for me. Lots of lids. Just a little space. Everyone wins.

This may be an unpopular opinion when it comes to organization, but I don’t usually like to use the back of a door for storage. They often feel very ungainly and can get ruined if other items in the cabinet hit them.

But we realized that in small spaces, sometimes we really need a back door that does the hard work for us. So in some cases, if you have enough space to use the back of the door without disturbing other items in the cabinet, it can be a good solution.

This is a photo taken in my mother’s kitchen. She uses her magazine files to hold things behind the cabinet doors. This works perfectly because she keeps her cleaning supplies in a trash can that’s far enough back that the magazine files don’t get in the way of them when she closes the door.

This is another example of my “file it if you can” mantra. I feel like the space could use more towels and washcloths. And it’s easier to see everything you have when you fold it into files rather than stacking them.

This photo is from an IKEA kitchen in a townhouse, and I love the option of having clear drawer dividers to separate the spaces.

Children’s things are always difficult to organize. It’s definitely a balance between wanting to give your kids independence and wanting to keep their gear in good order.

If possible, I try to place dishes low so children can reach them themselves. (We couldn’t do this in our townhouse kitchen, and that’s a good thing! But we have more space in our current kitchen, so we put the kids’ things within reach.)

I find that having lots of boundaries encourages boys to keep their things cleaner. For example, if you place your plates, cups, and bowls straight on this sliding shelf, they probably won’t stack up neatly. They slip all over the place and fall off the sides. And they will generally be a terrible mess.

But by adding a small basket, you only have space to stack things neatly, so they don’t fall out, and it’s clear what goes where.

Another way to maximize space in your cabinet is to utilize stacking bins. I don’t like stacking trash cans with lids. Because it’s a hassle to access the trash can at the bottom. But I really like stacking open-front bins that don’t require stacking and stacking again to get what you need.

At one point I was using stacking bins to store pods at my coffee station and they worked very well.

I love organizing. I don’t like cleaning. But cleaning can be a little more fun if you have a cute caddy to hold everything you need.

I like the caddy options. Because you can easily carry all your essentials around the house to wherever you need to clean.

Under-sink cabinets are typically tall and deep, so utilizing vertical space is paramount. These clear stacking drawers are some of my favorites
